Smartlead
Email execution. Deliverability engineered, volume kept on a leash.
Execution layerSmartlead sends what Clay decided is worth sending, after a human approves it.
Where email leaves the building without burning your name.
Smartlead runs the email side of the Execution layer: multi-inbox sending, warmup, rotation and reply detection. What makes it work in our stack is what happens before it: campaigns are triggered by signal combinations from Clay, not by uploading a list, and volume stays deliberately low because quality of targeting beats quantity of sends.
Your primary domain never sends a single cold email. Everything runs on separate sending domains we set up, warm up and monitor.
How we set it up.
- Build sending infrastructure
Separate domains with SPF, DKIM and DMARC configured, mailboxes created and warmed for three weeks before the first real send.
- Wire to signals
Campaigns trigger from Clay segments, so a prospect enters a sequence because something happened, not because they were row 4001 in a csv.
- Cap the volume
Per-inbox daily limits stay low and inbox placement is tested before and during every campaign.
- Route the replies
Positive replies land in your CRM with context attached and the sequence stops the moment a human takes over.
Read the full deliverability playbook for step one, or the Smartlead vs Instantly comparison for why we default here.
What flows in, what flows out.
